IKEA Website

I've just gotten over a nasty stomach virus. Ick. Anyway, I am better now. As I want to turn this blog into a usability blog, I have some 'design-related' news. In the past few months, colleagues have been asking me where I bought my computer desk, which some of them have seen linked from this web site. Upon telling them where I bought my desk (IKEA), they tell me that they have been to the web site and cannot find any nice desks. Although I cannot fault the overall layout, IKEA needs to rethink its navigation. I remember having problems with the navigation myself; I did not see everything that the web site had to offer under a category, and it took me a trip to IKEA to really see what they had. Computer desks, for example, are organized into desks, workstations, and a few other categories. It makes more sense to combine the categories into 'computer desks' so several desks can be viewed on one page. IKEA doesn't have hundreds of desks, and the general public do not know the difference between a workstation and a desk. IKEA have made some improvements in their navigation since I've been able to add this to my blog.
