Alabama Wedding

I have just returned from my brother's wedding, which required a 9-hour road trip to northern Alabama (through Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee). (Along the way, we stopped off in Nashville, TN to see a replica of the Parthenon in Greece and between both journeys, I started and finished reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

The wedding was held at a golf club with a picturesque on-site church and a fishing pond next to an open indoor/outdoor reception venue. (The presence of people fishing in the pond and the rocking chairs on the 'porch' in the motel lodging on-site was very southern.) The colours were orange and yellow, and lemonade and iced tea were served in large punch bowls with floral displays. There was a traditional wedding cake and a groom's cake (in the shape of the Ohio State football team logo).

On the way back, we stopped off at Hartselle, Alabama. This is a small village with several antique and craft shops. Down the road is the US Space and Rocket Center, and we stopped off at this museum to browse and to also look at the Star Wars exhibition, which consisted of props and costumes and models for the films. The final stop on the trip back was to the Jack Daniels whisky distillery.

I have published a few photos from the wedding below.
